According to TechCrunch, a US judge has ordered OpenAI to hand over recruitment-related documents in litigation concerning Apple's trade secrets.

Competition for skilled workers between technology companies is intense, particularly in AI. Employees moving between companies can raise questions about what information and expertise they may use in their new roles.

Trade secret protection does not prevent employees from using their general professional skills. Unauthorised use of confidential technical information or other protected material, however, can have legal consequences.

The order to disclose recruitment documents concerns evidence in the legal proceedings. It does not by itself prove that trade secrets were misused.

The case illustrates how competition in AI extends beyond software and models to the recruitment of experts.
