Scene Light, part of Maxon's autumn 2026 software updates, brings virtual lighting adjustments to Adobe After Effects. Its purpose is to help editors change the apparent lighting of footage after a shoot.

The tool estimates spatial characteristics of video frames and adapts digital light sources to the scene's structure. This can help create effects such as nighttime illumination or light emitted by a digital effect.

The approach could reduce the need for reshoots in commercials and smaller film productions. However, AI-based depth estimation is not equivalent to a complete 3D model, so demanding shadows and reflections may still need manual work.

The description is based on the manufacturer's announcement; the quality of the features has not been independently tested here.
