FBI and CISA warn of AI-enhanced election scams
US authorities urge election officials to beware of convincing phishing messages.

The FBI and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued a warning on 16 October about phishing campaigns aimed at election officials and political campaigns. According to the agencies, AI can be used to craft more convincing emails and text messages as well as fake audio and video material. Attackers may seek to steal passwords and other sensitive data. The warning does not allege that any particular election system has been compromised.
